Telstra reconnects western eyre peninsula Updated The Federal Government has announced it will sell off the northern part of the southern Great Barrier Reef after an estimated $7 billion is needed to restore its health. A taskforce announced the Northern Reef Taskforce yesterday (November 17), which will look at the options for re-establishing what was once a world-class environment. It's an extraordinary announcement. I think that's a good message of leadership — Stephen Leese Great Barrier Reef Environment Association chief executive Stephen Leese says the report will help set the tone for what the future of the reef will be. "We've certainly seen some great progress this year, we think we can do much more," he said. "The Northern Reef Taskforce is a real opportunity for the Commonwealth Government to come together with Australian industry and look at the different options." Mr Leese says the Northern Reef taskforce will consider re-establishing parts of the northern reef - which includes the Great Barrier Reef - with new industries. "When you're talking about a $7 billion investment, you'd need about 60,000 jobs to do that," he said. "I think that's a good message of leadership. "I think it shows that Australia is serious about supporting the region, and is not just looking at this as a resource." Mr Leese says the government must get the funding to the Northern Reef Taskforce right away. "I think for all of us, we're not going to put in to 2018 if we don't see a plan on a lot of fronts," he said. Great Barrier Reef scientists believe that the Northern Reef is currently a healthy part of its ecosystem and the reef is better equipped than ever to withstand major bleaching events, including a serious one that will be expected over the summer. It says scientists have found evidence that it has the right composition of corals and benthic life to withstand more bleaching events. The Federal Government says Australia's primary health care and economic benefit will be realized when all the pieces are put together and investment in coral reef infrastructure is paid for and maintained. The Federal Government says it will offer financial assistance to communities in the Northern Reef Area and areas around the Great Barrier Reef. "It is not that I don't enjoy your society at Court. You see, I have been sitting at supper at Versailles, and to-day you see me sitting in the chair of Mr. de la Fayette, and you can see me at table in the drawing-room with my wife." "You have been seated in the drawing-room with your wife," said de la Fayette. "Yes." "Why?" "She was ill during our first meeting at Versailles; she is always sick at that time of year." "Is it true that the king does not enjoy the entertainment of the court?" "I cannot help telling you of one occasion. "You see, one night I had to go to Versailles to carry out business, when the king saw me waiting to be ushered into his house. I said I should like to go alone, and he agreed, so he said he would go to supper with me alone, that night." "I believe you," said de la Fayette. "I can say no more about this." "I should like it very much to go alone with you, Mr. de la Fayette, but the circumstances of your illness make it impossible for that to happen. He went to supper with me alone. He has the privilege, then, of seeing you in the drawing-room alone, when there is nothing to see in the sitting room. " "We do not meet every day," said de la Fayette, "though many times. And we don't all sleep every night; some of us sleep during the day, some of us don't, I think it is true. And we will see each other again as often as that is convenient for us, so that we cannot be too careful about going into the drawing-room alone at night. But you never hear me say of what is convenient or inconvenient; you never mention these things, or if you do, you tell me in a word. How, in fact, do you find you can't sit in your drawing-room alone? To think you are only obliged to sit at dinner when you would not have liked it if you sat in the drawing-room with me? Oh, my God, that is so pitiful! If, in fact, Mr. de la Fayette were not sick, I am sure I should be there with you. What, then, does he want to see me in the dining-room?"

Two dead in vic plane crash A passenger plane crashed, killing at least six people on board as it made a takeoff from Melbourne Airport, police said. The plane took off from Melbourne Airport at 7.28am (AEST), carrying about 180 passengers, about 30 flight attendants and 12 crew and passengers, ABC News reports. The pilot was able to exit the cockpit, although he was severely shaken, the flight was later diverted to another airport in Adelaide. Cops confirmed a passenger plane crashed, but did not say whether anyone died on board. It is understood at least one of the deaths was on board as flight data recorder data was taken from the plane. The crash happened in the Melbourne suburb of Melton after the plane hit a snowbank, then skidded into snow and collapsed at about 30,000ft (9,200m), a police spokeswoman said. "One person from the Airbus A320-200 plane (was) killed in the crash," she said. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said the dead were all on board. "Australia mourns the loss of a beautiful and intelligent woman, a flight attendant and a member of her crew - she will be deeply missed by all Australians," he tweeted. A number of Australian air crash victims are still missing, but one body has been identified, Sydney's Nine Network reported, quoting a family member. It is part of the Catholic Diocese and part of the National Catholic Historical Museum of Nova Scotia, the only one of the six churches to be housed in the building and operated by the Diocese since 1837. The windows, which were installed in 2008, blend both the Catholic and Aboriginal religious traditions to create one very distinctive church view. Built in 1776 and built at the request of John Blois, who was not only the first Catholic Bishop of Halifax but also one of the province's earliest Christian leaders. There is an image of Christ on the stained glass windows which was first hung in the 19th century The church itself is a unique structure because it has been designed and built from scratch from the bottom up, yet has retained the original design that was given to the Episcopal Church when the cathedral was built in 1835. The design of the stained glass church windows was inspired by the Catholic Church's traditional red cross and has been enhanced with decorative paint and mosaics that bring to life the story of St. Joseph's journey through history. It was built in 1776, but originally St. Joseph had a red cross, and it was replaced with a painted cross in 1835, when John Blois became Bishop of Halifax. Today, the red church is surrounded by green terrace and trees. The interior was also designed in 1776, making it the oldest church of Halifax. However, only the stained glass windows were added in 2007, just under twenty years after their first installation. These windows have taken on the look and feel of a cross between the Catholic and the Aboriginal traditions of indigenous people, and the church is also one of the few churches to still be maintained by the diocese. Church members visit the church, a tradition that began in 1775, when John Blois moved his mission into this building Towards the back of the church is a small garden which includes some of the most amazing examples of local Nova Scotian art around the world including some of the best examples of local landscape, art and tradition around The Church of St. Joseph has the following distinctive features: The church's stained glass windows are framed within the shape of an upside down crucifix, which was taken from a Roman cross. A mural on the north side of the church features Aboriginal symbols for healing Many Aboriginal symbols are in the church windows, including a stone head with a pomegranate leaves covering it; the tree trunk (which has red and gold leaves); the symbol of the cross in the north window; and a tree that represents the four tribes (the Red, Yellow
